Gina Berg, PhD, MBA

Gina M. Berg, PhD, MBA is a human factors psychologist who specializes in research/quality improvement methodology and team development. Dr. Berg is the Research Director at Wesley Medical Center, a level I trauma center. Dr. Berg is also the Director of Wesley Leadership Institute, a program that promotes leadership, management, and quality improvement/research development of clinicians. Dr. Berg has authored over 50 articles mostly regarding the trauma patient or provider populations.

Andrew C. Bernard, MD, FACS

Andrew Bernard, MD, FACS serves as the Trauma Medical Director for University of Kentucky Healthcare and Section Chief for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery in the Department of Surgery in the College of Medicine. He's President of the Medical Staff. He chairs the ICU Committee and Organ Donation and Transplantation Action Council and Co-Chairs the Transfusion Safety Committee. He is President of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the nation's largest organization of trauma providers.

Abigail Blackmore, MSN, RN

Abigail serves as Trauma Program Manager at St. Anthony Hospital. Ms. Blackmore earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Marquette University, and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Regis University. She is a certified TNCC, ENPC, BLS, PALS, ATLS, and RTTDC instructor. She has published in the Journal of Trauma Nursing and has presented at several national conferences. She is a member of the Society of Trauma Nurses and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

Cynthia Blank-Reid, RN, MSN, CEN

Cindy has been the Trauma Clinical Nurse Specialist at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA for the past 13 years. It is an accredited Level I Trauma Center by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation and an accredited American Burn Association Burn Center. She belongs to various trauma and nursing organizations including the Society of Trauma Nurses where she has served as the education committee chair, a director at large, treasurer and is the current president of STN.

Kai Bortz MSN, RN, RN-BC, CMSRN, CNL, TCRN

Kai has served as a champion for geriatric trauma and the rollout of NICHE for trauma nurses. Certified in Gerontology Nursing, medical-surgical nursing, trauma nursing and as a clinical nurse leader. Multiple presentations on the topic of geriatric trauma. Serve as the Chair of the Geriatric Special Interest Group for the Society of Trauma Nurses. Oral abstract winner for the Society of Trauma Nurses in 2015, 2015 Literary Excellence Award winner, and reviewer for the Journal of Trauma Nursing. LVHN Quality and Research Award winner 2016. Published author in The Journal of Trauma Nursing, “Creating a Geriatric-Focused Model of Care in Trauma with Geriatric Education”.

Pamela Bourg, PhD, RN, TCRN, FAEN

Pamela Bourg is the Director, Trauma Program at St. Anthony Hospital. Ms. Bourg earned a BSN from Louisiana State University and MSN from Boston University. She is a certified TNCC, ENPC, BLS, PALS, ATLS, and RTTDC instructor. She has published in nursing and trauma journals, is a Fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nursing, and in 2017, was awarded the STN Trauma Leadership Award and the Nurse Excellence-Transformational Leadership Award from St. Anthony Hospital. Ms. Bourg obtained her PhD in Nursing from the University of Arizona in geriatric trauma research.

Dr. Albert Chi

Dr. Chi is a trauma surgeon whose practice includes critical care, trauma and acute care surgery. Dr. Chi has a background in biomedical engineering and a clinical research focused at improving the lives of individuals with traumatic injuries with an emphasis on motor control. Dr. Chi is currently the medical Director of the Targeted Muscle Reinnervation program at Oregon Health and Science University and has a research appointment the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in the Research and Development Department in the area of advanced prosthetics. Dr. Chi is also a Commander in the Navy Reserves and has served in Operation Enduring Freedom as the Director of surgical services in 2013.

Kristen M. Chreiman, MSN, RN, CCRN, TCRN

Kristen M. Chreiman is currently the Trauma Network and Program Clinical Coordinator for The Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, PA. Her responsibilities include; assisting existing Penn Trauma Network affiliates, PTSF accredited trauma centers and new centers in pursuit of trauma center development and accreditation, establishing best practices, strategic planning for trauma center accreditation goals, coordination of mock surveys and educational opportunities throughout the network. In addition, she is the On-line Editor for the Journal of Trauma Nursing, the official publication for the Society of Trauma Nurses. In this role Kristen supports STN’s strategic goals by maintaining digital social media content and webpage development for the Journal of Trauma Nursing with Wolters Kluwer. Prior to this position she was the Performance Improvement Coordinator for The Trauma Center at Penn, a Regional Resource Level I Adult Trauma Center in Philadelphia. Preceding the PI position, she was an ICU staff nurse in the Trauma and Surgical Intensive Care Unit, formally a Penn STAR flight nurse and a Legal Nurse Consultant. Kristen has served on several local and national committees including the Leadership Committee for STN, the Editorial Board for JTN, the Trauma Registry Committee for the American Trauma Society, and Trauma Registry Committee for the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation. She has presented locally, regionally, nationally and on various trauma topics including intraosseous access, trauma video review and building a mobile application to improve trauma team communication and onboarding.

Diana Clapp, BSN, RN, CCRN, TCRN

Diana began her career in the Medical field as an EMS and attended the University of Maryland , obtaining her BSN in 2003. She followed her dream to work at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in 2006 as a nurse in the Trauma Resuscitation Unit; in 2014, she transitioned to the Quality Improvement Coordinator and EMS liaison. Diana spends her “free time “working on her DNP, throwing tennis balls for her black lab, and raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association in Honor of her mother!

Nancy Denke, DNP, ACNP-BC, FNP-BC, FAEN

Nancy is a Neuro/Stroke Nurse Practitioner at HonorHealth- Osborn. Nancy received her BSN from Penn State, MSN & FNP from the University of North Carolina, and a DNP- Innovation in Leadership from Arizona State University. Currently she works in a Level 1 Trauma and Stroke Center in Scottsdale, AZ. She has presented numerous topics related to Emergency/Trauma Nursing to National and International audience and has numerous publications regarding Emergency/Trauma Nursing and Brain Injury in Sports.

Stephanie Devore, RN, BSN

Stephanie Devore began her nursing career in northern Michigan in 1986. After travel nursing for many years working in a variety of specialties (neuro, ortho, oncology, oral surgery, general med/surg), Stephanie settled in central Kentucky. After working in the ICU and ED, Stephanie became a coordinator for the local organ donor program. She also has experience in flight nursing, infection control and hospital safety. Five years ago, she transitioned back into the trauma field as the adult trauma coordinator at University of Kentucky Healthcare. In her role, she is responsible for PI initiatives, protocols, and general oversite of their Level 1 Adult Trauma program. Stephanie presented her work on Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment at the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) Annual Meeting in 2017 and had a poster on this as well at the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) Annual Meeting. She is currently the chair of the Geriatric SIG subcommittee on Developing Guidelines for STN and is working on her Master’s degree /Family Nurse Practitioner.

Alexander L. Eastman, MD, MPH, FACS

Dr. Alex Eastman is an Assistant Professor and trauma surgeon in the Division of Burns, Trauma and Critical Care at UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Medical Director and Chief of The Rees-Jones Trauma Center at Parkland Memorial Hospital. A graduate with distinction of the George Washington University School of Medicine, he completed his general surgery and two fellowships at UTSW/Parkland Memorial Hospital. He is board-certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care from the American Board of Surgery, as well as Emergency Medical Services from the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and has a Master’s Degree in Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center--Houston.

Dr. Eastman works outside the traditional health care setting as well. He is a Dallas Police Department Lieutenant, the Lead Medical Officer for DPD SWAT and the Deputy Medical Director of the Department. In addition, he was recently appointed as Senior Medical Advisor to the United States Department of Homeland Security. Also at the federal level, Dr. Eastman serves as a Special Deputy United States Marshal on the North Texas Fugitive Task Force. He represents all these agencies on the United States Attorney General’s Officer Safety and Wellness Group.

A former firefighter/rescuer in Montgomery County, Maryland, his research/academic interests include the prehospital care of the injured, novel methods of hemostasis, cost effective wound care and the interface between medicine, law enforcement and public health. He is the Medical Advisor to the Major Cities Chiefs Association. Most recently, Dr. Eastman was awarded the 2014 Outstanding Young Texas Ex Award from the University of Texas at Austin and the 2015 Officer of the Year from the Dallas Police Department.

Amy Eberle, BSN, RN, TCRN

Amy Eberle is the Trauma Program Manager at Sanford Health in Bismarck ND an ACS verified Level II Trauma Center. Prior to this position she was ND State Trauma Coordinator. Amy is also a nurse reviewer for the American College of Surgeons. She has experience in all aspects of trauma system planning and performance improvement development. She helped to implement a state and regional performance improvement process involving all hospitals within North Dakota. Amy serves as a Course Director for TNCC and the Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC). Amy is a current board member of the ND Trauma Foundation and a member of the STN, ND ENA, and ND EMS Association. Amy serves on many committees throughout the state of North Dakota and has been involved in many legislative activities in regards to enhancing the ND Trauma System.

Ashley Emmel, MSN, MBA, RN

Ashley Emmel is the Trauma Program Coordinator for outreach at Nebraska Medicine and Coordinator for Dusk to Dawn. She completed her BSN at Creighton University, then her MSN and MBA at Nebraska Wesleyan. She directs and trauma outreach and education throughout the state of Nebraska, and has a passion for youth violence prevention in her home town of Omaha, Nebraska.

Jasmine Garces-King, DNP, RN, CCRN, TCRN, ACNP-BC

Dr. Garces-King has been in the nursing profession for over 16 years throughout which time she has worked across the trauma spectrum. She obtained her RN diploma from Christ Hospital School of Nursing/St. Peter’s College in 2001. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Felician College and her Masters of Science in Nursing from Rutgers University (formerly UMDNJ) with a focus in Acute/Critical Care as an Advanced Practice Nurse in 2006 and 2008 respectively. Most recently she obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chatham University in 2015 where her capstone focused on improving delirium outcomes for the critically ill trauma patient. Additionally, she has been involved in grant-funded delirium research and project oversight for delirium prevention and management within her previous institution.

She has worked in several areas during the course of her career. Her main areas of expertise are in all adult critical care units, neurosciences/neurosurgery, GI/transplant, general surgery, palliative care, nursing leadership, inter-professional education, and trauma. Jasmine is presently the Trauam Program Director of Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY; a provisional Level II trauma center. In recent times she worked as a Trauma/Surgery/Critical Care Nurse Practitioner within the trauma division at New Jersey Trauma Center/University Hospital, a Level 1 trauma center, which is affiliated with Rutgers University. She is actively involved in numerous organizations including the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN), Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST), Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), American Delirium Society (ADS), and the PanAmerican Trauma Society (PTS). She serves as Co-Chair of the Leadership committee for STN, Secretary for an EAST-STN task force for Advanced Practitioners, and Chair of the Leadership committee for the Chi Zeta chapter in STTI. In addition, she is a course director for the PTS nursing course which aims to improve evidence based nursing knowledge, trauma care and outcomes. She holds several national board certifications. Of late she obtained the TCRN (Trauma Certified Registered Nurse) certification as one of the first 250 nurses in the United States to achieve this distinction as part of the Beta group. She has presented locally, regionally, nationally and internationally on a variety of trauma, global injury/global surgery, nursing, and leadership topics.

Annemarie (Anne) Glazer, RN, BSN, MBA, TCRN

Annemarie (Anne) Glazer is the Trauma Program Coordinator for Performance Improvement & Research for North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, an ACS Level 1 trauma center. She is an active member of STN (participating as a Nurse Partner in the ACS Best Practice Guideline revisions for Palliative Care and Imaging Guidelines) and ENA as state faculty for TNCC. She is also a pre-hospital care provider with a local volunteer fire department and serves as an EMT-CC. She has presented at local and national conferences on multiple performance improvement issues.

Jessica Hamilton, BSN, RN, CCRN

Jessica is the ECMO Program Coordinator and Educator at Harborview Medical Center. She graduated from the University of Washington with a BSN in 2005. She has spent a majority of her career as a critical care nurse in the Trauma ICU at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She was an Assistant Nurse Manager for education for 3 years and in 2016 took on the role of ECMO program Coordinator. She is highly involved in the training of ECMO specialists, bedside nurses, and providers and is coordinating the Quality Improvement and Research projects for ECMO at HMC.

Debbie Harrell, MSN, RN, NE-BC

Debbie is Director, Professional Relations at Shriners Hospitals for Children, Cincinnati. She has worked at Cincinnati Shriners Hospital for more than 30 years, and currently is Director of Professional Relations. Debbie spent 25 years of her nursing career in burn care and directing the burn unit. She has participated in burn care research and developed teaching tools and lectures about lighter safety, burn prevention and burn care. Debbie has presented burn education for more than 25 years.

Melissa Hockaday, ACNP

Melissa Hockaday is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Service Line Executive for Trauma & Acute Care Surgery for an American College of Surgeon Verified Level I Trauma Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. She obtained her master’s degree in nursing from Indiana University as well as her BSN. Melissa is a board certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner who currently practices on trauma and surgical critical care service. Melissa has over 18 years of experience in emergency medicine, trauma and surgical critical care. Her professional career includes several leadership roles for nursing and advanced practice providers. She is the past present for the Indiana Trauma Network for the State of Indiana. Melissa has served on STN Board as the Director at Large for leadership for two terms.

Carol Immermann, BSN

Carol Immermann is the Trauma Program Manager at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, an ACS verified Level 1 and Pediatric Level 1 center. She has over 25 years’ experience in emergency/trauma and disaster nursing which includes developing trauma programs of all levels in rural and urban areas. Ms. Immermann is Vice-Chair of the Minnesota State Trauma Advisory Council and serves on several state committees. She is also chair of the STN TOPIC committee and STN liaison to the ACS-COT PIPS committee.

Karla Klas, BSN, RN, CCRP

Karla is Managing Director, Injury Prevention and Community Outreach at the University of Michigan Trauma Burn Center. Karla’s 25-year distinguished career in critical care trauma/burn nursing, trauma program management, research, public education, professional development training, & injury prevention has produced numerous journal publications, textbook chapters & grant awards. She’s attained multiple specialty certifications, & leadership appointments to committees devoted to injury control. An award-winning speaker, educator, & author, she also volunteers in survivor support programs & mentors at-risk youth.

Amy Koestner, MSN, RN

Amy Koestner is the Trauma Program Manager at Spectrum Health,in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Amy earned her BSN from Nazareth College, and her MSN from Wayne State University. Amy's nursing career spans across the pediatric ICU, flight nursing, adult ICU care, and includes over 15 years in the role of TPM. Amy has been active in the STN for over 20 years, serving as the president in 2008, current Optimal Course faculty, and STN liaison to the Committee on Trauma PIPS committee.

Amy Krichten, MSN, RN, CEN, TCRN

Amy serves as the Director of Accreditation for the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation. She is a consultant and site surveyor for trauma systems across the United States and has spent her twenty-plus years of nursing in the trauma spectrum including roles of a Trauma Program Manager, Nurse Manager ~Trauma/Neuro ICU, Emergency Department Manager and Educator and Orthopedics Clinical Operations Manager. Amy is a Director at Large for the national Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) and the founding co-chair of the STN Leadership Committee. She is a contributing author and instructor for the TOPIC Course, and currently serves as an item writer for the BCEN/TCRN examination. Amy has several publications to her credit, including topics such as Crew Resource Management, Leadership and Injury Prevention.

Arash Mahajerin, MD, MSCr

Arash Mahajerin is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at CHOC Children’s Hospital, University of California, Irvine, Division of Hematology. He is also Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, University of California, Irvine, Division of Hematology.

Daniel R. Margulies, MD, FACS

Daniel R. Margulies, MD, FACS is the Chief, Section of Trauma, Emergency Surgery and Surgical Intensive Care; Associate Director of the Division of General Surgery; Professor of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; Health Sciences Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California at Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine. He is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care.

Dr. Margulies has been a staff physician and member of the faculty at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center, for over twenty-four years. In his current role as Trauma Medical Director and Director of Acute Care Surgery he oversees trauma, emergency surgery and surgical critical care. In his academic role as a Professor of Surgery Dr. Margulies is the two-time recipient of the Leo Rigler Golden Apple Outstanding Teaching Award, a testament to his excellence in educating, mentoring and training residents and medical students.

Dr. Margulies is dedicated to professional organizations both regionally and nationally. He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma and will serve as Chairman of the Verification Review Committee come March, 2018. He is a member of the Emergency Medical Services Committee and State Faculty for the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support. He is currently President of the Southwestern Surgical Congress, District Representative of the Western Surgical Association, and has memberships with the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American College of Surgeons, the Pacific Coast Surgical Association and the American Surgical Association. Dr. Margulies is also a Commissioner of Emergency Medical Services for the State of California.

He is past President of the Southern California Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, past Chairman of the Southern California Committee on Trauma and past Commissioner for Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Commission.

In addition to his clinical and teaching interests as faculty of the general surgery residency program, and as past director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Margulies has a wide interest in surgical research in trauma and surgical critical care. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, has co-authored many book chapters and currently serves as an editorial reviewer for The Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery.

Dr. Margulies earned his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in mechanical engineering, and earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine, followed by a Clinical Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Johnny Matheny

A pioneer in upper extremity prosthetics, Johnny Matheny is the world's first bionic man. He has had several ground breaking surgical procedures, including targeted muscle reinnervation and osteointegration, which allows him to control the Johns Hopkins Modular Prosthetic Limb wirelessly with intuitive thought as a seamless natural extension of his missing arm. Johnny has the single most experience with all of the world’s most advanced limb systems and continues to be a champion for the advancement of prosthetic research. Mr. Matheny, who lost his arm to cancer, has never seen his amputation as a disability, but rather an opportunity to help others with upper extremity loss.

Sarah Mattocks, MSN, RN, CRNP, TCRN, NE-BC

Sarah Mattocks is the Trauma Program Manager at UPMC Hamot, in Erie, Pennsylvania. Amy earned her BSN from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and her MSN from Gannon University. Sarah's nursing career started the emergency department, and includes over 10 years in the role of trauma program coordinator/manager. Sarah has been active in the STN for over 10 years, serving in various roles on the Leadership Committee, and is now a director-at large on the STN board of directors.

Cathy Maxwell, RN, PhD

Dr. Cathy Maxwell is an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Her research is directed at understanding outcome trajectories of older adults after physical injury; and development and implementation of interventions to facilitate patient-centered, post-injury care. She is interested in helping older adults understand what is happening to their bodies as they age so that they can make informed decisions that improve quality of life. Dr. Maxwell won the 2017 Innovation Award from the National Hartford Center for Gerontological Nursing Excellence for her work related to frailty and geriatric trauma.

Jane McCormack, RN, BSN, TCRN

Jane McCormack is the Trauma Program Manager of the ACS Level I Trauma Center at Stony Brook University, in Suffolk County NY. Jane has a BSN from the University of Florida, and has spent career time in Texas before moving to the east coast. Her interest in compartment syndrome stems from her early days as a bedside nurse in a busy orthopaedic trauma unit.

Judy Mikhail, PhD, MBA, MSN, BSN

Judy N. Mikhail, PhD, MBA, MSN is the Program Manager for the Michigan Trauma Quality Improvement Program (MTQIP) at the University of Michigan. Dr. Mikhail has held multiple progressive positions in trauma and critical care at institutions in Michigan including those of Clinical Nurse Specialist, Trauma Program Manager, and Trauma Administrator. Dr. Mikhail is active in the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST), and is a Past President of the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN).

Mayur Patel, MD, MPH

Mayur Patel is Assistant Professor of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care Department of Surgery, Section of Surgical Sciences, Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Shawn Patton, RN

Shawn Patton is a Registered Nurse and Trauma Program Manager for Wise Health System in Decatur, Texas, a Level IV Trauma Center that is actively seeking Level III accreditation. He has his Board Certification in Emergency Nursing, as well as being a Trauma Certified Registered Nurse. Shawn has over 23 years’ experience in pre-hospital, emergency and trauma nursing including Fire/EMS and Level 1 Trauma Center experience. He is an instructor for Emergency Nurses Association’s Trauma Nursing Core Course and Society of Trauma Nurses Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses. He is the outgoing Leadership Extern 2017 for the Society of Trauma Nurses.

Joan Pirrung, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC

Joan Pirrung, Trauma Program Manager, Christiana Care Health System, Newark, DE, has worked with the trauma population for the last 20 years at the bedside in the ICU followed by her current role as trauma program manager. She has been in the role for 11 years and has worked in an ACS verified Level 1 trauma center for 13 years. A major part of her role is to manage and actively participate in PI. This includes case review, co-chairing PI committee meetings and assisting in loop closure.

Bryce Robinson, MD, MS, FACS, FCCM

Bryce is Associate Professor of Surgery at Harborview Medical Center, Department of Surgery, University of Washington. He also currently serves as Chair, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma Practice Management Guideline Committee and Associate Medical Director, Critical Care, Associate Professor of Surgery, University of Washington Department of Surgery, Harborview Medical Center.

Linda Roney, EdD, RN-BC, CPEN, CNE

Dr. Linda Roney is an Assistant Professor in the EGAN School of Nursing and Health Studies and the Specialty Coordinator of the MSN- LEAD IN program. Dr. Roney graduated with her BSN from Villanova University and both her MSN and Doctorate of Education in Nursing Education from Southern Connecticut State University and teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate program at the EGAN School. She is certified as a Pediatric Nurse, Pediatric Emergency Nurse and Academic Nurse Educator and has over 20 years of clinical, leadership and administrative experience at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and has received awards such as Nurse of the Year, the Nightingale Award for Clinical Excellence, and the Connecticut Emergency Nurses Association Educator of the Year Award. Dr. Roney is the chair of the Pediatric Committee for the Society of Trauma Nurses, a member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and a member of the Emergency Nurses Association's (ENA) Institute for Emergency Nursing Education (IENE) Advisory Council.

Dr. Roney continues her pediatric nursing practice at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. She has been involved in research and policy development on the state and national levels focused on injury prevention in children.

Justin M. Rosen

Justin M. Rosen is a Congressional Lobbyist with the American College of Surgeons, Division of Advocacy and Health Policy in Washington, DC. As the primary lobbyist responsible for the House Energy and Commerce Committee for the College, Justin covers policy related to trauma care, pediatrics, Medicaid, and the budget and appropriations process. Prior to joining the College in 2013, Justin spent four years working for the Speaker of the House in the Connecticut General Assembly as a Policy Analyst and six years as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) covering the Greater Hartford, CT area. Justin also served on the Board of Aldermen in his hometown of Milford, CT and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in political science.

Sheryl Sahr, MD

Sheryl Sahr, MD, is a Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon and Surgical ICU Surgeon at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, an ACS verified Level II Adult & Pediatric Trauma Center. Dr. Sahr attended medical school at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks, ND, and general surgery residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her Surgical Critical Care fellowship at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis, MN. She is Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Sahr is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is also an ATLS Course Director and has been involved with RTTDC courses. Dr. Sahr was previously the Assistant Trauma Medical Director and Surgical ICU Medical Director at UnityPoint, Des Moines, IA and Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, IA. Dr. Sahr has a MA in Microbiology, has been involved in a variety of Quality Improvement Committees including TQIP.

Jason A. Saucier MSN, CRNP, AGACNP-BC, CCRN

Jason A. Saucier is an Adult Acute Care Nurse Pracitioner and the practice Manager for the Surgical Critical Care Advanced Practice Providers at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Jason is also a PhD student at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing studying Health Services Research.

Kathryn Schroeter, PhD, RN, CNE, CNOR

Kathryn Schroeter is a nurse scientist and clinical ethicist at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Schroeter is an associate professor at Marquette University College of Nursing and also an adjunct assistant professor at the Center for Bioethics & Medical Humanities at the Medical College of Wisconsin. As a member of the ANA Steering Committee for the revision of the Code of Ethics for Nurses she is a contributing author of the new ANA Code. She is the editor of the Journal of Trauma Nursing and authored the book "Practical Ethics for Nurses and Nursing Students."

Christine Schulman, MS, RN, CNS, CCRN-K

Christine Schulman is president of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). Christine is a critical care and trauma clinical nurse specialist at Legacy Health in Portland, Oregon. She was previously a trauma and critical care nursing consultant after working several years as a trauma and surgery clinical nurse specialist at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She obtained most of her bedside clinical experience as a staff nurse in the surgical ICU at Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, and earlier in her career she held critical care and emergency nursing positions in Wyoming and Colorado. Schulman has also been an adjunct clinical instructor at Oregon Health & Science University, Seattle University and University of Washington School of Nursing in Seattle.

An AACN Circle of Excellence award recipient in 2012, Schulman is a member of AACN's Greater Portland Chapter in Oregon and the Mountain to Sound Chapter in Seattle. Schulman served on the AACN Nominating Committee from 2008-2009 and 2014-2015, and was chair of the AACN Research Work Group in 2006. Schulman's other professional affiliations include the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

She is a frequent speaker at regional and national critical care and trauma conferences and presented at AACN's National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition. Schulman has published numerous articles and book chapters on trauma and critical care topics, evidence-based practice and the role of the clinical nurse specialist. She served as a contributing editor and manuscript editor for Critical Care Nurse, an editorial board member for AACN Advanced Critical Care and a section editor and author of "AACN Advanced Critical Care Nursing," 1st edition.

Schulman earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health & Science University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wyoming.

Elizabeth Seislove, MSN RN

Elizabeth Seislove is currently the Assistant Vice President for Trauma Services with the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) in Nashville, TN. Her responsibilities include assisting HCA verified, upgrading or inaugural trauma programs with accreditation processes, standards of optimal care along with research and evidenced practice throughout the network. Prior to this position, she was the Director of the Trauma Program at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA, a Regional Level I Adult Trauma Center, a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and an ABA accredited Burn Center. Preceding the Director position she was an ICU staff nurse in the Shock Trauma Unit, ICU Educator/Advanced practice clinician, followed by the Pediatric Trauma Coordinator, Program Manager then Director.

She has served on several local and national boards of directors including the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation, past president of the Society of Trauma Nurses and member of the EAST Foundation BOD. She has presented locally, regionally, nationally and internationally on various trauma topics.

Lynn Gerber Smith, MS RN, TCRN

Lynn Gerber Smith is a masters prepared trauma nurse educator. She had presented in 41 states and 4 countries and is best known for her presentations on trauma and pregnancy and trauma case reviews. Throughout her 4o year career Lynn worked in various roles in a level 1 trauma center. Lynn continued to be clinically active in trauma resuscitation during her career.

Deb Syverson, RN, BSN

Deb Syverson is the Trauma Program Manager at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, an ACS verified Level II Adult & Pediatric Trauma Center. Deb has a nursing career of 25-plus years, which includes caring for adults and pediatrics in the pre-hospital, critical care, emergency, and air-medical settings. Deb has been an active participant and leader in the inclusive North Dakota state-wide trauma system, including being a site-reviewer for the Level IV & V trauma centers. Deb continues to be active in the MN state-wide trauma system, including being the chairperson for the WESTAC (Western MN Regional Trauma Committee); the former facilitator for the Regional Trauma Advisory Committee Leadership Forum; and a member of the MN State Trauma Advisory Committee PI Work Group. Deb is also a course coordinator for ATLS and the Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC), and a current board member of the ND Trauma Foundation. Deb has been a member of STN for 17 years, and has been involved with the Rural Special Interest Group for 14 years.

Renee Theisen, FNP-BS

Renee Theisen, FNP-BS is a family nurse practitioner who specializes in acute pain management at George Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA and then earned her Master of Science degree at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She holds national board certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner. She began her career in healthcare over 20 years ago by working as a licensed practical nurse in pediatrics. Since that time she has accumulated experience in various areas of patient care to include correctional health, pediatrics, home health, long term care, critical care, post anesthesia care, and acute pain management.

LeAnne Young, MSN, Ed, RN, TCRN

LeAnne Young is the Pediatric Trauma Coordinator at Memorial Regional/Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital (an ACS verified Adult Level I and Pediatric Level II Trauma Center) in Hollywood, FL. Her professional career has predominantly focused on the care of the pediatric trauma patient and trauma nursing education. Throughout her 12 years as a pediatric trauma nurse, LeAnne has held leadership positions in trauma program administration, worked in trauma clinical research, and post-acute trauma care management. She is an active member in the STN on the ATCN and Pediatric committees, and serving as co-chair of the non-accidental trauma work group.

Robert David Winfield, MD, FACS

Robert D. Winfield is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed surgical residency and research fellowship at the University of Florida, and trauma fellowship at the University of California in San Diego. He now serves as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Trauma Research at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City and is the Chair of the EAST Research and Scholarship Committee.
