BCEN Names New Executive Director & Announces Management Promotions

The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) has appointed Janie Schumaker, BSN, MBA, CEN, CPHQ, CENP, FABC as its new executive director. Schumaker has served as BCEN’s interim executive director since July 2017 and also served on BCEN’s board of directors from 2013-2017.

An accomplished nurse leader with more than 25 years’ experience in the healthcare industry, Schumaker has spent the majority of her career in emergency nursing both at the bedside and in leadership roles. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a master’s degree in business administration, and is a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).

The Oak Brook, IL-based BCEN also announced the promotions of Hilde Marnul to Director of Marketing and Communications and of Naomi Savino to Business Operations Manager.

More than 45,000 BCEN certifications are currently held by registered nurses who specialize in emergency, flight, critical care ground transport, pediatric emergency and trauma nursing.
