The purpose of the STN Clinical Committee is to identify, develop, promote, and provide clinical resources for the trauma nurse. The Committee will seek opportunities to collaborate and ensure optimal and equitable trauma care throughout the continuum of care and throughout the world.

**Committee Duties/Responsibilities**

- Develop the STN Clinical Committee agenda, goals, and objectives with direction and approval from the STN Board of Directors.
- Seek out and promote opportunities for the clinical trauma nurse to enhance knowledge, skills, and care of the trauma patient.
- Plan, develop, and oversee STN-sponsored clinical education and training related to trauma nursing care.
- Collaborate with other STN committees and other interdisciplinary organizations as needed to plan and execute deliverables that advance trauma nursing care.
- Provide reports and recommendations to the STN Board of Directors quarterly and as requested.
- Participate in virtual monthly committee teleconferences and perform other tasks as assigned by the STN Board of Directors.
- Coordinate, organize, and moderate monthly clinical webinars.

**Requirements to Serve**

*Service is open to Active or Associate STN members in good standing, who meet the following criteria:*

- Desire to invest time, talent, and energy to advance committee objectives and promote optimal and equitable trauma care across the continuum of care and across the globe.
- Availability for a one-hour monthly teleconference and the ability to allocate up to an additional three (3) hours each month to complete assigned volunteer tasks.

**Tammy O’Connor** is the Trauma Program Manager at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, a Level I Trauma Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Her 32 years of experience includes emergency, trauma, critical care, and prehospital nursing. Tammy has been with the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Trauma Team since it’s initial accreditation as a Level II Trauma Center in 2008. She has had many roles within the program including Trauma Case Manager, Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator, and Trauma Prevention and Outreach Coordinator, until she took on the role of Trauma Program Manager in 2017. Since then, she has been instrumental in their center advancing to a Level I Trauma Center in 2022.

Tammy graduated from Penn State University with a BSN and obtained her master’s degree from Widener University. Tammy is currently certified as a Critical Care Nurse Specialist (CCNS) and TCRN.

Tammy has been an active member of the Society of Trauma Nurses and is Chair of the STN Clinical Committee. She has participated in various projects such as the STN Trauma Nurse Orientation slides that are currently available. Tammy has also been an active member of the Pennsylvania Trauma Nurse Advisory Council (PaTNAC) where she serves as Secretary.
