## Leadership Development Committee Description

The Leadership Development Committee (LDC) of the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) is committed to shaping the future of trauma care by cultivating exceptional leadership among nurses at every level. We empower trauma nurses to lead with confidence, innovation, and resilience through targeted development of professional growth, leadership competencies, and advocacy skills, ensuring excellence in trauma care settings worldwide.

## Leadership Development Committee Purpose

**Developing Emerging Leaders:** Advance the global trauma community by cultivating emerging nurse leaders and enhancing leadership skills among trauma nurses, directly supporting the STN Board's strategic objectives.

**Providing Leadership Education:** Empower STN members and trauma leaders worldwide through the development and delivery of leadership education programs aligned with the STN Vision and Mission.

**Requirements to Serve**

- STN Member in good standing
- Demonstrate a vested interest in trauma care throughout the continuum.
- Demonstrate interest and experience in leadership or professional development.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commit to attending meetings and contributing to committee activities.
- Able to commit a minimum of five (5) hours per month for committee activities.

**Jessica Cofran** is a Director of Trauma Services at Common Spirit Health. She has 16 years’ trauma nursing experience with specialty in trauma critical care, emergency care, trauma registry, and process improvement. Jessica is currently serving as the Chair of the American Trauma Society Trauma Nurse Leadership Council, Co-Chair of the Society of Trauma Nurse Leadership Development Committee, and contributing member of the Trauma Outcomes Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) Committee. Jessica has special interest in utilizing technology to elevate performance improvement processes, trauma data analytics and implementation, and development of regional systemization and inter-facility collaboration.

**Kenyatta Hazlewood** is a Registered Nurse and Public Health Professional with over two decades of experience in emergency and trauma care, community outreach, and injury prevention. She serves as the Trauma Program Director at Howard University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, where she also directs the Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program and former director of the Center of Excellence in Trauma and Violence Prevention. Kenyatta's leadership extends nationally as a Board Director-at-Large for the Society of Trauma Nurses. She co-chairs the inaugural District of Columbia’s Violence Fatality Review Committee and is a founding member of the D.C. Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinators Collaborative. She is in the National Institutes of Health - funded, Firearm Injury Prevention Research in Nursing Scholars Program. She holds Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Health Management degrees from Howard University, and a Master of Public Health from The George Washington University.
