She serves as the Trauma Program Director at Howard University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, where she also directs the Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program and former director of the Center of Excellence in Trauma and Violence Prevention. Kenyatta's leadership extends nationally as a Board Director-at-Large for the Society of Trauma Nurses. She co-chairs the inaugural District of Columbia’s Violence Fatality Review Committee and is a founding member of the D.C. Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinators Collaborative. She is in the National Institutes of Health - funded, Firearm Injury Prevention Research in Nursing Scholars Program.
