STN Business Writing Series: Navigating Professional CVs, Resumes, Interviews & Portfolios in a Competitive Healthcare Environment

This course is a three-part series that will provide learners with professional strategies to navigate the dos and don’ts in writing a curriculum vitae, resume, job correspondence, as well as acing virtual and in-person interviews. The course will also provide learners with best practices in professional portfolio development and presentation.

Course Series 1 – October 28th: Resume vs. Curriculum Vitae: The What, When and Why
Objectives:
  • Identify the difference between a CV and a resume.
  • Describe required and optional sections of each.
  • Identify which types of job postings are appropriate for CVs vs. resumes.
Course Series 2 – November 11th: Writing a Professional Letter: Cover & Thank You Letters and Acing The Interview
 Objectives:
  • Explain the main components of a professional cover letter and thank you letter.
  • Create a professional cover letter and thank you letter.
  • Discuss key interview strategies to utilize during in person, phone and virtual interviews.
 Course Series 3 – December 2nd: Creating a Professional Portfolio: Leaving a Visual Impression
Objectives: 
  • Understanding the importance of having a professional portfolio.
  • Verbalizing important aspects of what to have in your professional portfolio.
  • Identify benefits of having an ePortfolio
