2025 STN Business Proposal Writing Course

NSTN is pleased to announce the return of its Business Proposal Writing course, beginning on September 1, 2025. This 6-week course offers opportunities for aspiring leaders and trauma program management to learn and grow in their profession and directly supports and enhances the mission, vision, and strategic plan of STN by addressing the specialized needs of a trauma leader.

This course will deliver topics that will assist the trauma leader to create a business proposal, through components of a business plan, identification of a problem and writing a business proposal for your identified need.

The course spans six weeks, with an estimated workload of 2–3 hours per week. The distribution is as follows:

  • Week 1: Introduction to Business Proposal
  • Week 2: Needs Assessment
  • Weeks 3 & 5: Application and financial components of Business Proposal
  • Weeks 4 & 6 are additional weeks where no presentations are offered but the participants will have time to work on their documents and submit for feedback.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Define the term business proposal and explain how it applies to trauma program leaders
  • Understand the need for a business proposal in a trauma program
  • Identify the steps to writing a business proposal and the respective components
  • Present examples for the business proposal applicability in trauma programs
  • Provide real-life scenarios of when and how to write the business proposal
  • Identify the problem, data and tools for justification
  • Discuss a variety of analysis tools to assist with identifying the problem to present to leadership
  • Describe data needs, collection and analysis
  • Identify one real-world problem and create a business proposal to present to leadership by the end of the course

Moderators

All presentations will be pre-recorded for on-demand viewing. However, course moderators will remain actively involved throughout the program, providing interactive support and personalized feedback. To progress through the course and complete it successfully, participants are expected to actively engage in discussions and complete all assigned assessments by the suggested due date for each module. It is important to stay on track each week, as each module builds upon the last.

By the end of the course, you will have developed a comprehensive, practical proposal that can be confidently applied in your professional or academic pursuits.

IT Requirements

  • For PC-based participants: Internet Explorer 10.0 or above, latest version of Mozilla Firefox, or latest version of Google Chrome (JavaScript enabled). Cable modem, DSL, or better Internet connection.
  • For Mac-based participants: Latest version of Safari, Firefox, or Google Chrome (JavaScript enabled). A cable modem, DSL, or better Internet connection is necessary.

Responsibilities/Key Activities

  • View all recorded sessions for each module and complete the associated post-session learning activities, including assigned readings, discussion board participation, application exercises, and other required assignments.
  • Commit to spending at least 2-3 hours per module, reading materials, preparing for sessions, viewing videos, and completing assignments.

Continuing Education Credit
The Society of Trauma Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This program will provide 20.0 contact hours of continuing nursing education. All assignments and final evaluation must be completed to receive CNE for this program. No partial credit will be awarded.

The registration fee is $200 for STN members and $325 for non-members. The non-member rate will include 1-year of membership to the Society of Trauma Nurses.
