In September 2024, an unprecedented natural disaster, Hurricane Helene, hit Western North Carolina, disabling key infrastructure and left the region without vital resources. This webinar will overview the regions Trauma Center response to the natural disaster and how they were able to sustain operations, secure essential resources, ensure patient and staff safety, and expand support to the surrounding community during and after Hurricane Helene from the perspective of Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Jackie Gosnell during the event.

Jaclyn Gosnell is an inspired nurse leader with over 20 years of progressive experience in healthcare, specializing in trauma, critical care, and organizational leadership. She currently serves as the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Mission Hospital in Asheville, overseeing more than 400 FTEs across diverse units including critical care, neurology, trauma, and stroke programs. Prior to this role, Jaclyn served as the trauma program director at Mission Hospital Level II Trauma center. She began the journey to becoming a level I state designated and ACS verified center. Along with her duties in the Trauma Program, Jaclyn served as the liaison for the hospital’s organ procurement center and NC state chair for trauma program directors. Jaclyn is dedicated to building resilient teams through mentoring, coaching, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and compassion.
A graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a Master’s in Nursing Administration and a recent graduate of Harvard Business School’s Executive Development Program, Jaclyn combines clinical expertise with strategic leadership. Her certifications include Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN), and numerous others in emergency, trauma, and safety standards.
Jaclyn has published and presented nationally sharing her insights on trauma program leadership, organizational improvement, and patient-centered care. Her innovative approach and commitment to excellence have led to significant improvements in patient outcomes, staff engagement, and operational efficiency.

Society of Trauma Nurses is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This program has been awarded 1.0 hour of continuing nursing education.
